Oasis of the Seas Makes Waves, Big Ones

In late 2009, the world's largest cruise ship will make its debut, with enough rooms for 6,400 guests to scatter across 16 total decks. The biggest question may be: "Will the Oasis of the Seas live up to expectations? Is it possible to keep 6,400 people smiling?"

Royal Caribbean's Oasis of the Seas will not only be the largest cruise ship ever to set sail, but with a price tag of $1.24 billion, it will be the most expensive commercial ship ever built. With record-setting size, price, and guest capacity, the Oasis of the Seas has a big opportunity to 'wow' its guests, and from what this ship promises, it appears to be up to the challenge.

The Oasis of the Seas will be a literal floating city, based on a neighborhood concept which partitions the onboard attractions into different areas of the ship. These seven neighborhoods onboard the Oasis of the Seas will include a Boardwalk, a lush green Central Park, a Royal Promenade, the AquaTheater, a Pool and Sports Zone, a Youth Zone, the Vitality at Sea Spa and Fitness Center, and an Entertainment Place. The neighborhoods of the Oasis of the Seas will be complete with downtown-inspired Loft Suites, a buzzing nightlife, street-level shops, quaint cafes, and much more.

For the kids, there is neighborhood all to themselves. The largest facility of its type at sea, the Youth Zone will allow children of every age to enjoy entertainment prepared exclusively for them, from programs where they can design their own jewelry to the first-ever theater just for kids.

While the young ones are occupied in the supervised areas of the Youth Zone, parents and older teens will have the chance to say "Why not!" to some much needed personal time. One of the largest spas at sea, the Oasis of the Seas Vitality at Sea Spa and Fitness Center will be a haven of relaxation and rejuvenation for travelers and will offer countless treatments to have guests looking and feeling their very best.

When the whole family is looking to spend time together, it is not hard to find fun onboard the Oasis of the Seas. With a ZipLine, four pools, two Flowrider surf simulators, a rock wall, roller-blading, and more, daytime entertainment at sea will have everyone out on deck, rushing between the various attractions and activities. After the sun goes down, the fun doesn't stop. The AquaTheater, a pool by day, transforms into one of the most fascinating liquid stages by night. Performers will put on unforgettable shows using high-dive towers, a trapeze, and trampolines to accomplish aerial feats that are sure to have the audience saying "Wow!"

Though guest expectations are almost as massive as the Oasis of the Seas itself, this revolutionary cruise ship and staff will undoubtedly deliver an experience that is even bigger.
