Caribbean Cruise Stops - There's Fun For Everyone

If you are planning your first Caribbean cruise, you've got a lot of choices ahead of you. How long a cruise do you want to take? What islands to you want to visit? How many ports and shore excursions can you squeeze into a week? How about two weeks?

There are more than 40 ports that can be mixed into a Caribbean cruise itinerary, split between the Eastern Caribbean and the Western Caribbean.

Eastern Caribbean Cruise Stops

If you take a cruise to the eastern Caribbean you will likely leave from a port in Florida. Typical ports of call include:

· St. Thomas - St. Thomas has one of the better climates in this area. Americans love the low humidity and cooling trade winds. But St. Thomas also offers somewhat of a foreign culture, a little history, and interesting architecture along with the blue seas, exotic wildlife, and the amazing beaches typical of a tropical paradise.

· The Bahamas - This cluster of islands is often a destination for first-time cruisers. The Bahamas are actually on 50 miles from the U.S and is perfect for a 3 or 4-day cruise to Nassau or Freeport. Nassau especially is just foreign enough to make you feel like you've traveled farther.

Other eastern Caribbean destinations include the other Virgin Islands like St. Martin, St. Croix, and St. John, Barbados, and Dominica.

If you think you would prefer to spend more time taking advantage of shore excursions and the beaches rather than at sea, then the itinerary of an eastern Caribbean cruise might appeal to you. The islands are fairly close together, they are smaller and the activities are beach and water-related.

Western Caribbean Cruise Stops

Most western Caribbean cruises embark from, Florida, New Orleans, or Texas. Some of the more popular destinations include:

1. Grand Cayman - This is a very popular stop for cruise ships because Grand Cayman is known to have the best shopping in the Caribbean. It also has some great beaches and interesting sights like a turtle farm and "stingray city".

2. Jamaica - This is another popular cruise destination with ports of call in either Montego Bay or Ocho Rios. Montego Bay is thought to have some of the best beaches in the Caribbean while Ocho Rios offers the beautiful Dunns River Falls that you can get to by bus or by kayak.

Other choices include the Dominican Republic, Belize, and Cozumel, which is famous for its great scuba diving opportunities.

Unlike eastern Caribbean cruises, more sailing time is required because the ports of call are further apart. But some of the ports of call are actually on the mainland like Costa Rica, Belize, and Mexico. This allows for a bigger variety of shore excursions like visiting Mayan ruins or hiking in the rain forests.

Whether you are planning to travel alone, with a spouse, or with your family, there are plenty of exciting and unique Caribbean cruise stops to make everyone happy.

Cruise Ship Review - Review of the Royal Caribbean Adventure of the Seas

In this review of the Royal Caribbean Adventure of the seas, I wanted to take a look at the sheer size of this monstrosity. Royal Caribbean has taken cruising to a whole new level.

You will be able to enjoy one-of-a-kind features like an ice-skating rink, the Royal Promenade and a rock-climbing wall just for starters. How is it possible to put so many grand scale project on a cruise ship? It is easy when you consider how big this ship really is. This ship is 138,000 gross tons.

Innovations on this and other Voyager-class cruise ships add up to more space for every guest and include enhanced staterooms, expanded dining options and exceptional recreational facilities.

The Royal Caribbean Adventure of the seas, is a member of the Voyager class of cruise ships, all of which have everything from rock-climbing walls, miniature golf courses and ice-skating rinks to specialty restaurants and bustling boulevards lined with shops and cafés.

Meals in the main dining room combined wonderful service with what I thought was high-quality delicious food. The Adventure of the seas also has a reservations only dining room called the Portofino, which you should reserve early. When we finished our meal there on Sunday night, we immediately tried to make another reservation later in the week. Everything was booked save for a few late sittings.

After dinner, head over to Studio B on Deck 3 for "Cool Art, Hot Ice". Be sure to see the ice show. It's great. You have to appreciate the incredible talent and athletic prowess of these performers. These performances run throughout the cruise itinerary, so you will have several opportunities to see it, and you should take advantage.

Family Vacations on Royal Caribbean's Freedom of the Seas

Royal Caribbean has a long history of creating family-friendly cruise ships that are innovative and fun. When Freedom of the Seas was introduced in 2006, she was the world's largest, carrying 4,375 passengers. And she introduced many cool amenities and activities that have been widely imitated.

Freedom of the Seas is still a great choice for families and she provides positive, quality experiences for kids of all ages, and their parents.

She sails from Port Canaveral on Sundays, and visits CocoCay - Royal Caribbean's private island in the Bahamas - St. Thomas, and St. Maarten.

Freedom of the Seas activities.

Kids who enjoy going to the mall will feel right at home in the four-story Royal Promenade. There are plenty of places to shop and eat during the day, and nightly parades and street performers are fun and festive.

The Adventure Ocean program provides supervised activities for kids in four different age groups. Children who aren't yet potty trained can come with their parents for play dates, and private babysitting is available.

The H2O Zone is extremely popular with older kids. This onboard water park has a waterfall and separate pool, away from the adults. And a private club for teenagers keeps them occupied during the evening hours.

The array of activities on Freedom of the Seas is staggering. Whether you want to scale a rock wall, play nine holes of mini golf, ice skate, box, or surf, you'll be able to do lots of fun things you've never done before. There are three Jacuzzis, two cantilevered whirlpools that jut out from the side of the ship, two swimming pools, a day spa, and a fitness center.

Freedom of the Seas restaurants.

When it's time to eat, kids' favorites like Johnny Rockets and Ben & Jerry's charge a modest surcharge, but the pool-side grill has free burgers and hot dogs, and there's also a café for pizza and paninis.

Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are available in the dining room and Windjammer Café. And My Time Dining lets families choose dinner times that are convenient for them.

Parents will enjoy a night out at one of the two alternative restaurants - Portofino Trattoria and Chops Grille. The first serves salads, pastas, and other Italian specialties. The latter has steak house favorites and yummy desserts.

Freedom of the Sea cabins.

Freedom of the Seas has several types of accommodations that work well for families. All the staterooms have WiFi Internet access, mini fridges, small safes for valuables, and flat-screen TVs where you can watch movies or get more information about shipboard activities.

Those on a budget should consider one of the 172 inside cabins that overlook the Promenade. These are a good value and are a little more inviting than the usual inside cabin.

At 300 square feet, the Family Cabins can sleep up to six. Large parties - up to eight people - can upgrade to a Family Royal Suite. With a living room, two bathrooms, two bedroom, and a big balcony, these are roomy and luxurious.

With tons of fun activities, plenty of dining options, top-quality kids programs, and fun, low-key port calls, Freedom of the Seas offers everything families need for a winning vacation.

Cruise Business in Springfield Oregon

Although Springfield, Oregon is quite some distance from the coast, it has become a top location for the cruise industry. The cruise business in Springfield, Oregon was ignited by the arrival of Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines offices. The 200,000 square foot office building was announced in 2004 and the five year plan has brought thousands of jobs to the area.

The offices will be the home to the national customer service department of this vast company. This cruise business in Springfield, Oregon provides valuable financial advantages through the business that it brings to the area as well as the jobs that it provides. The company pay good wages and the staff receives a number of benefits. Royal Caribbean themselves have provided around 1,000 jobs in the actual office complex but the overall business and jobs associated with such a large employee setting up in the area is much more far reaching. With all the associated business taken into account the number of jobs created will end up being much higher.

Although the decision was made in 2004 to build the office complex and locate this cruise business in Springfield, Oregon, it will actually be more like 2009 before the entire operation is up and running and all the staff in place. The plans were to have at least 600 staff retained in employment in the first 3 years. The remaining 400 or so vacancies will then be available over the next 2 years by which time the operation should be fully functional.

To give you an idea of what the cruise business in Springfield, Oregon would be worth to the local community, Royal Caribbean estimate that wages to the staff at the offices will total around $31 million per year. This is obviously when the offices are fully functional and the business running as planned. The figures prove what an asset the company will be to the local economy. Such a vast increase in local cash flow will benefit all the smaller businesses in the area and could well go a long way to improving the quality of life for many residents.

As I have mentioned, the cruise business in Springfield, Oregon is not well known around the world. The fact that the cruise ships that they deal with are not within sight does not mean that this town will be benefit from this multi million dollar tourist industry. This is the beginning of a good working relationship between a large cruise company who will benefit from a supply of local workers and the local community who will benefit from a large company at the heart of the tourist industry.

A Visit To Labadee In Haiti

The first port for our Royal Caribbean cruise of the western Caribbean was Labadee, Hispaniola which is actually a part of Haiti. This specific port is leased out to Royal Caribbean so only their cruiseships come here. Labadee is actually a peninsula with a few beaches. Getting to land from the cruiseship is by tender.

There is a small section for kids with floating fake icebergs to climb and water slides but they charge an admission fee. Flotation mattresses are also available for rent for those who just want to float in the ocean. There are also locals who help with getting beach chairs for you but they expect tips. So things here are a money grabber. The cruiseship did have optional tours for snorkelling, parasailing, waverunner and kayaking tours but we thought that they were overpriced. Most passengers just spent the day relaxing around the beaches.

The area around Labadee was pleasant enough but the beaches and shores themselves were fairly rocky so wearing sandals in the water would be advised. Royal Caribbean had organized a beach BBQ at an outdoor picnic facility which was okay but nothing special. There is a market there consisting of two buildings. One is a store where the souveniers and items have marked prices and the other building is like your typical market where locals try to hustle you for business. The locals inside the market were aggressive but polite. If you don't mind haggling, you could get some pretty good deals but if you dislike this type of pushy atmosphere, then you best avoid the market except for the fixed price store.

One big difference between this port compared to others is that since it is pretty well being used as a private beach, you will not be hassled by locals. The vendors coming around with drinks at the beach locations are actually Royal Caribbean staff so if one wishes to buy a drink, the cruiseship passcard is all that is required. As for concerns about being in Haiti given the poverty and political situation, Labadee was not a problem because the entire site is enclosed by a high steel fence. Other passengers later told us that they wandered off near the perimeter of the site and saw many Haitians along the fence begging for handouts and food. The fencing was mostly concealed in the distance from the main tourist areas.

We found Labadee in general to be a bit of a waste of time for us. The beaches were too rocky and we didn't have access to inexpensive activities since everything was run by Royal Caribbean. If one wanted to just go lie on the beach all day and not much else, then Labadee would be a suitable place. For those who want to experience some culture, do water sports without going through the cruiseship, or shop duty free, Labadee would not be the place to go. We decided to stay on board the ship after the BBQ lunch for the rest of the afternoon. I like Royal Caribbean and would definitely cruise with them again but would not want to go on an itinerary that included Labadee in the future.

Cruise Lines Exclusive Private Islands

When choosing a Caribbean cruise you may well come across some islands you never even knew existed. Princess Cays, Labadee and CocoCay are all examples, and they all have one thing in common; they are used exclusively by the cruise lines who own them. So, forget busy ports, hassling street vendors and uncertain territory, and arrive in style at your own private island instead!

The majority of these islands are far too small for locals to reside in, and therefore have been leased out to the cruise companies, providing an exclusive getaway for cruise passengers and a valuable income for the local governments. The cruise lines have transformed the once "dead land" into their own mini paradise islands.

Typically situated in the Bahamas, these islands feature regularly on many Caribbean itineraries. Often reached by tender only, the islands lie uninhabited out in the middle of the ocean, waiting to indulge the lucky passengers who step ashore.

If you are lucky enough to visit a private island as a port of call, the real luxury is having the freedom to make the day as relaxing or as active as you want it to be. Whether floating out across the bluey-green coral reefs takes your fancy, or even parasailing, it's all on offer. Whatever you choose, a day in paradise can be surprisingly tiresome, so a big buffet style beach barbeque usually comes as standard.

Royal Caribbean comes out top in the owners' stake with access to two of its very own islands, Labadee and CocoCay. They are also pretty much the only cruise company to have ownership of an island outside of the Bahamas.

Of all the islands, Labadee is one of the most popular. Situated on the north coast of Hispaniola, Labadee is part of a larger, inhabited island, occupied by Haiti and the Dominican Republic. Labadee boasts 260 acres of beautiful beaches, exotic foliage and coral reefs bordered by contrasting mountain slopes.

Land is reached by tender (an accessible small ship to transfer you to the shore when waters are shallow) which allows for an impressive and truly unique perspective of the cruise ship. Once ashore, Royal Caribbean have provided an abundance of activities and tours, including, kayaking, parasailing and jet ski hire - allowing guests to take a tour down the coast of the island - or, for the less adventurous, floating beach mats (great for both sunbathing, and floating out to sea on!), snorkeling around the tropical reefs and shopping for beautiful handmade local goods. Kids will be a million miles from boredom with an Aqua Park, featuring trampolines and inflatable slides.

CocoCay is Royals second offering, a small, secluded island situated around 50 miles from Nassau, encompassing 140 acres of Bahamian land. Again reached by tender, the island has recently undergone a huge renovation providing an improved guest experience. As CocoCay is an isolated island, the only people occupying it will be guests from the ship and staff; this creating both a relaxing and safe environment.

CocoCay features much of the same activities as its sister island, including the Aqua Park, jet skis and opportunities to parasail and kayak, but in addition, invites guests to snorkel out to sea to explore both a ship and plane wreck, which is not to be missed - if you are brave enough! To wash away the salt water a must is to sample either a "Coco Loco" or "Labaduzee" one of the islands signature cocktails.

The very first ownership of a private island took place in 1977 when the tiny island, today named Great Stirrup Cay, was purchased by Norwegian Cruise Lines.

Situated some 120 miles off Fort Lauderdale, this island has an impressive history of visitors including pirates who used the island as a safe haven, and more gallantly, American troops who occupied the island during World War II to defend the eastern shores of the U.S. Today, Norwegian Cruise Lines has transformed the once somber island into one big beach party!

Accessed by tender, this island will offer everything you would expect; a total of 5, varied, white sandy beaches, and crystal clear waters full of tropical fish, but what sets this island away from all the others is that the guests really have come to party! Fun is the main agenda here, so if you fancy competing in "Olympic" games or Limbo this is the island for you. The island also boasts volleyball courts and ping-pong tables, and for explorers, snorkelling and paddle boats with viewing areas in the base.

Whatever you choose to do here, it will be set to the sound of the live Calypso band which plays island favourites for listening or dancing to throughout the day.

Disney puts forward a strong competitor for top private island with Castaway Cay.
The only company to own an island which doesn't require a tender, here you can walk straight off the ship and into the fun! This combined with paved walkways and a tram service to different parts of the island also makes Castaway Cay the best choice for wheelchair users.

The 1,000 acre island is located 225 miles from Disney's year-round home port of Port Canaveral.
Parts of this island have been developed like no other island has, even featuring its very own post office! Yet Disney have appreciated the natural beauty of the land and has only developed 10% of the whole island.

Most cruise companies can offer a number of beaches on their island, but few can ensure one to really suit everyone's requirements. Castaway Cay has Serenity Bay, a 1 mile stretch of secluded beach reserved for adults only, where guests can indulge in massages in private cabanas overlooking the sea, Teen Beach, the name says it all! Or guests can head down to Castaways Family Beach where everyone is welcome to play in the lagoon, paddle out to sea or partake in organised beach games.

Disney can offer its guests so many options of how to spend their day on the island, including a 12 acre snorkelling site to explore, kayaking, paddle boats and parasailing. For the younger visitors there is a dig site for kids to find fossils and sharks teeth among other treasures, and also a water play area situated in the lagoon, just off the family beach.

Holland America is another cruise line in the running for best private island. They own award winning Half Moon Cay, situated less than 100 miles southeast of Nassau. Of the total 2,450 acres they own, 2,400 have been left untouched so guests can truly appreciate the beauty of the remote island.

The island features a 9 mile long beach, a wild bird reserve, a beach front bar, air conditioned beachfront cabanas along with shaded hammocks. And whilst the adults are relaxing, the kids can make use of Half Moon Lagoon, an aqua park which also features the Stingray Adventure Program which involves swimming with stingrays. Beach sports, parasailing, nature trails and windsurfing are all other options to fill your day on the island.

Much the same as the other islands? Not when you look at the amazing excursions offered. Horseback Ride 'n Swim excursion will allow guests to explore the island on trails that are accessible only by horseback. During the ride, experienced guides will share insight on Bahamian history, people and culture. The trail will lead guests to a deserted beach where you can enjoy refreshments and can take an unforgettable swim in the sea with the horses.

Although Half Moon Cay is reached by tender, which can sometimes prove difficult for less able guests, the island itself is wheelchair friendly and therefore another good choice for those who require this access.

Not to be out done by its competitors, Princess Cruises puts forward Princess Cays as its little piece of private paradise. Located on the southern tip of Eleuthera Island, 30 miles off Nassau, Princess Cays is 40 acres of fun and relaxation set in truly beautiful surroundings.

Unlike the majority of the other islands, Princess Cays is part of a larger island, and therefore does have neighbouring inhabitants. (Maybe better referred to as a private beach than private island then! although a very nice one at that) A range of equipment is available to hire from snorkels, aqua chairs and sea boards to kayaks to aqua bikes for the more adventurous!

Princess Cays is a place where it seems to be more about soaking in the beauty of the island and making use of all the cushioned chairs, tiki huts and hammocks settled between the palm trees than filling your day with water sports.

So, which is the best private island?

Over all, Disney provides an excellent island that caters equally well for families, young children and teens, as well as less able guests and wheelchair users. For those wanting a more "toned down" island, Holland America is also a very strong competitor. Each of the islands has its own unique attractions, but it really comes down to personal choice. And of course, although a fantastic part of your cruise, it is only one day, so other factors may well come higher when choosing which cruise is right for you, i.e. the cruise line, ship, remaining itinerary and of course the price!

So when you book your next cruise, look out for one of these islands on the itinerary and you can judge for yourself who really does own the best private island!

The Scoop on the New Royal Caribbean - Oasis of the Seas

Hello everyone, I wanted to give you my feedback with the large sums of in the cruise industry these days .... The new Royal Caribbean, Oasis of the Seas! It is home port in Fort Lauderdale all year long. My husband and I had the pleasure to spend two nights cruise on board a pre-inaugural tour office / media during familiar. I must say I had my doubts like a great ship .... the largest at sea, 225,000 GRT (gross registered tons), from theFreedom class ships of 160,000 tons. This ship carries about 6,500 passengers plus staff.

I thought before I crossed ..... too large, too many people, an atrocity, I would not really want to cruise. I thought .... why should all of a ship that great need.

Well let me tell you ...... I was wrong! This is an innovative ship, it has more to do to see more, experience more and more to enjoy, then I could in a week. And better yet, it is easy to maneuver (unlike many shipsYou have to go up and down and all around get to where you want to go).

It has an ice skating rink, basketball court, mini golf, two Flow Rider surf simulator, a zip line, a mini golf course, two climbing walls, five pools, a spa, fitness center, large indoor theater, comedy club, a jazz club, piano bar, a pub, a Spanish club, the Royal Promenade with big parades, and a water theater, casino, full-size carousel, shopping, shopping and shopping (candy store, Pets in LakeMemory (think Build-A-Bear), children boutiques, teen boutiques, COACH, Prince and Greene, Willow, etc), two arcades, table tennis, a fabulous kid's pool area, large children's and youth clubs and much more.

This does not even two dozen restaurants. Yes, they charge a premium lot but what a fabulous selection of the Royal Promenade has cupcake shop on the Johnny Rockets and the Seafood Hut on the Boardwalk, Japanese and Sushi Restaurant Izumi, on thevery upscale 150 Central Park, which I hear is absolutely the best with an impressive young chef prepares an indescribable multi-course menu. And I've never seen a buffet dining area as beautiful as seen on this ship. The Windjammer Marketplace, as they call it, has windows that face directly out over the promenade, the zip line, basketball and mini golf. We sat at the end of the zip line and enjoyed watching the faces of those zooming through the Open-air decks above the zip line 10Boardwalk eaten, while we have lunch.

This ship is a destination ....

If I was lucky, I'm back, I plan to take my children (15 and 12), although I am sure I will never am. Did I mention the great teen club? It is far from the rest of the Kid's Club and convenient to the sports deck, the Wipe Out Café (Think pizza, hot dogs and soft ice cream) and a large arcade. It has (as do teen's like) giant bean bags to lounge in, it has a music studio, a gaming area, whichlooked like a yoga area and even outside meeting place shaded area.

My thoughts on what I will, if I to 7 nights .... spend a day to be able to enjoy in any environment. I loved the Boardwalk with the Aqua Theatre, where it shows high divers, synchronized swimmers, and more have. The floor in the pool matches of a dry period to 18 m deep. How cool is that? I want to spend more time in Central Park. I did not even get a chance to take a ride and a drink on theRising Tide Bar, floats up and down, between Central Park and the Royal Promenade. It looks like a giant surfboard new era! And oh, do not forget the adults only Solarium with private pool, two whirlpools astonishing that are exposed on the side of the ship, their own "healthy choice" breakfast area, lazy lounge and a bar

And let me mention the accommodations on this ship .... You far more to choose from then any before. Of course, the standard inside, ocean view,Balcony suites, but more. How about a balcony, the park faces the Boardwalk or Central, or perhaps an inside look at the Royal Promenade. Perhaps you prefer a suite ..... how about the new 2-level loft suites .... they are amazing, especially the Royal Loft Suite! I fell in love with the Aqua Theater Suite, which sleeps up to 8 guests. It has a large balcony overlooking the ocean, the other on one side and the aqua theater and rock climbing walls. And there is even aHandful of 6 people inside and ocean view cabins for those of you with large families with young children. I think I've heard that there were seven on board, so be sure to book in advance it. They will go fast!

My advice when you cruise .... You book your evening's entertainment in advance, before entering the ship. You can check schedules and options, if you have booked. You can do this interactive from your TV in your cabin, but why wait .... be sure what you getwant. I especially recommend this for the comedy club, as it only seats about 110 people per show. I also recommend not wait to book you cruise. This ship is very popular because there is so much enthusiasm and pricing was up. If you book early, Cruise Best buy, you get the best selection of cabins, but you get the best prices because we keep an eye on these rates for you on a bi-weekly. When prices fall, we get you the lower rates! Nowork required on your part to keep an eye out. We are after your best interest, because we believe the agency your are about your friends and family and the agency you come back, again and again want to be. Do not forget we also offer the best prices available on Royal Caribbean has to offer, and then all off by giving you enjoy on board ship credit on the.

Enjoy our pictures by writing to us. We are happy to send the pictures. You can also find our pictures on our Facebook page.To add a link, go to our web site. Let me know if you have any questions, I would be glad to talk about this ship with you at any time. Yes, pricing kind of high in 2010, but that's like no other ship on the high seas! It is on my list has to do now!

How Much Will Your Cruise Ship Vacation Cost?

Cruise vacations can be fun a lot, but they are not exactly cheap. Many people who want a cruise to take are often concerned with the costs incur. If you are planning vacation cruise to go, you might want to guess how much it would cost, and there are quite a few opportunities to appreciate that ...

1. First you choose a shipping company and a cruise ship: This is the first step, depends how you cost your much of the> Cruise ship you choose to leave. Several cruise ships offer all inclusive vacation packages, and while they may seem to be high priced, you do not, wear a lot of money.

2. Where the cruise ship will depart? If your departure port is not easy driving distance, you may have to take a flight to get there, and you could even stay in a hotel if you stay at your port of departure the previous day.If so, then you must also factor in costs.

At the output port is very far away from home, then you might want to consider how one might receive there spending the least money possible - if you are really interested in cutting costs. If you are traveling by plane with us, would be how much it cost, you come by bus or drive there or take a train?

3. How much do you want to spend on board? If you want to select aAll-inclusive option, then you can estimate how much you spend on board. This can not be very easy thing to do on a cruise ships are not planned as filled with so many wonderful attractions you had that you might be tempted, try out things by much. But you can set yourself a budget and try to stay in it.

The estimate of how much you can spend on board entertainment and activities is relatively easy compared to the estimate of howmuch you spend on food on board since the websites of the shipping costs indicate how much almost every activity on board.

Since you may not get in the situation, the menus online, not in a position to evaluate you approximately how much you spent on food can be on board.

4. Are your children with you cruise? If you have small children, the cruise will be with you you can consider how much you can calculate the costs for child care ... They areplanning to use this facility is, dass

5. Shore tours - what do you buy? If you plan to buy souvenirs destination ports, travels around the place, buy food, everything you might want a budget for the set. The estimate of these costs are not feasible, because you may not know how much it costs where travel costs or how much food or almost anything else before it.

Even if you could not at an exact value of how much money you are spending will arrive on, Can exert your cruise this at least help to know what you can for money during the holidays.

Norwegian Epic Cruise Ship Review

I was invited to visit the exclusive 2-night (2-3 July, 2010) before the opening session for the latest and largest sailing ship in the NCL, Norwegian Epic. Starting from New York City, began the journey by boat christening ceremony, the hosts comedian Jeff Garlin and was the featured sponsor, Reba McEntire. In addition to the celebrations was the Macy's 4th Of July fireworks from the epic was the live on national television (WNBC). It included musical performances by JustinBieber, Enrique Iglesias and LeeAnn Rimes. As I have experienced many times in the past, know the people at NCL really how to throw a party! But let us on their new ship, the focus Epic.

The "hardware"

When discussing the physical properties of a cruise ship (ie, it is appearance and layout), industry professionals often refer to the ship "hardware". So, let's start there.

At 153,000 tons with a passenger capacity of 4,100 (double occupancy)Norwegian Epic is by far the largest ship in the NCL fleet. In fact, with the exception of Royal Caribbean Oasis of the Seas (which was launched in December 2009), Epic is NCL's largest cruise ships at sea. It is also one of the uniquely designed cruise ships, which I quite one) ever been to (... and I have been a few were on. In most cases, that "uniqueness" a very positive attribute to the thoughtfulness and attention that reflects the EpicDesigners have paid for maximizing the use of space to a much larger, wide-open "feel" to reach out to all public areas of the ship. And that area seemed "easy" will go to the next (without the "cookie-cutter rigidity sometimes found) on cruise ships was truly remarkable. But in some areas, I did not perceive to be the unique design of the ship is an advantage. Seemed the outer shape of the ship a little "strange" to me. The bow is a bit "stubby-looking" andthe tail is "squared-off so that the ship does not have a" streamlined "appearance from the outside. In addition to the irregular appearance is a massive 3-deck appendage, which was apparently "flopped" on top of the front portion of the event (or, more likely to continue to maximize interior space of the vessel). Apparently the ship had the designers to make some trade-off's "all that she was inside the ship and eventually reached by a passenger perspective, the interior is much moreimportant.

The establishment of the Epic is modern and somewhat "weaker" than other NCL ships. Getting around was not quite so simple, because the ship's unique interior. Instead of the common areas amounts to a uniform width by the middle of the ship gave Epic the interior of the illusion, designed that way, but in different places, the inside width of the ship would vary apparently and you went to give the right or left at another location. So, just when I thought I had seen the whole ship, would I discover a new area. After more than 50 cruise ships, I found the layout of the Epic is very interesting and "refreshing".

The Food

Since all the restaurants offer a variety of dining options, an assessment of food is not only influenced by personal taste, but also chosen by which items from the menu. For example, the first night, my wife and I ate at the Manhattan Room, one of theShip main dining area. She had a chicken that they are "OK" as valued as I scallops which were very good, had. Like all public areas on the Epic, the layout of rooms and amenities Manhattan was a tribute to the ship designer. Wide open and airy, the Manhattan Room had the look and feel of a fine dinner theater. In fact, I was somewhat surprised when our dinner host (one of the NCL executives) informed us that the room was not a specialty Manhattan restaurant. The other main dining roomRoom, appropriately called "taste", was also very well designed and easy on the eyes. In the middle of the taste is a beautiful chandelier (reportedly the largest at sea), that spiral from the deck above. Although I have not eaten in taste, I hear that the menu is the same as the Manhattan Room, so I would assume our assessment of the food would be about the same (ie "OK" was to "very good", depending on the entre selected and, of course, personal taste).

One of theHallmark of the celebrated NCL Freestyle Cruising "is the selection of restaurants and, not surprisingly, so is the Epic this function to a new level. In addition to the two main dining area, the Epic 17 other dining options, each with its own cuisine and ambiance. These include the large buffet area (the "Garden Cafe"), in which the food was consistently fresh and of high quality (albeit with a little less choice than we experienced on some other ships have). It also includes theBBQ by the pool ("Spice H2O"), "O'Sheehan's" (a huge, sprawling pub, the meeting place and social nucleus "was for many of the guests of the vessel) and several specialty restaurants such as La Cucina Italian Restaurant (which was even more attractive set up on the Epic as on other ships NCL), Japanese teppanyaki grill (much larger than on other NCL ships) and Le Bistro French Restaurant to name a few. Each of the specialty restaurants has a "cover charge" (which ranges from $ 10 to$ 35 per person), but in my opinion, they are all well worth the money.

On this pre-inaugural cruise, I tried two of the specialty restaurants, Cagney's Steak House and Moderno a Brazilian Churrascaria "all-you-can-eat barbecue where guests their server signal with a green card (" OK, I'm ready for more ") or a red card (" No, please. I am filled "). My wife and I have raved NCL Cagney's Steak House on several other Norwegian cruise ships (eg, the NCL Dawn, theNCL Gem and Jewel) and we enjoyed it just as on the Epic. On the other hand, we were not nearly so impressed with the ship at Epic Moderno Churrascaria, Cruise, which is the first such restaurant to anyone. The salad bar was absolutely fabulous (especially the plump shrimp and fantastic gourmet cheese), but other than the loin (which the server cut in front of you), my wife and I were both disappointed with the quality of the meat. Ironically, my son Greg (CEO ofDirect Line Cruises), and several of our employees tried Moderno Churrascaria and really loved it. So, do not take my word for it.

The service

A cruise passenger perception of service on board is so often dependent on their cabin crew member and was waiters / waitresses served their meals in the. Since my wife and I began to Direct Line Cruises, there are customers for several cases in which different in exactly the same cruise wouldReport radically different service levels. So, at best, any assessment of the service are taken only as a generalization based on limited personal experiences while on board.

After preceded this part of my review (to "cover my tail", if the reader experience a different one), my wife and I found the service cruise (ie the on NCL Epic be consistent with, what we experienced ships on other NCL very well with a few exceptions).

And EntertainmentActivities

It may be hard to believe, but the show from the Blue Man Group actually exceeds NCL Hype! It was the only (... yes I am that word again ...) and professional act I've seen on any cruise ship. Funny and thoroughly entertaining, I would rather see the show, night after night as' sit some of the old Broadway song and dance shows I have ever seen on cruise ships so many others. The Blue Man performance was on the ship the main theaterWhich, given the size of the Epic, was relatively low (with a capacity of under 600 people). But despite this fact, the theater was not "packed" because, in accordance with NCL's concept of "Freestyle Cruising", the epic was with several entertainment options, each designed in a different show.

In addition to Blue Man Group, presented the NCL Epic "Legends in Concert," performances by Elvis, Madonna, Tina Turner, Michael Jackson and imitated presentedother "superstars". If you like this kind of thing, you will probably enjoy it very much. Doing so may be your "OK" as I did.

Another Epic "first" is Cirque Dreams and dinner, by an exceptionally talented group of acrobats in a special theater-in-the-run round is a mirror-tent. Several of our employees saw this show and said that it was very good, but perhaps a bit too long. My wife and I saw a very different show at the Spiegel tent. Our 3-year-oldGranddaughter, we were able to bring us a big fan of "Dora the Explorer and Diego, and she loved the Nickelodeon character breakfast, in addition to Dora and Diego, also presented" Sponge Bob Square Pants "" Jimmy Neutron " and others. In an exclusive deal with NCL, the Nickelodeon characters, not currently on the Epic and the NCL Jewel (now sailing all year round from New York City) and may be appearing on several other ships, NCL.

Another presentedLaw on the NCL cruise ships is the second largest city comedy troupe. Although I do not see their show on the Epic (... it just was not enough time to do all women ...), and I have seen my ship, as some other NCL cruise. In general, we find their "rehearsed" very funny skits, and their "improvised" routines very un-funny "(but then again, I never really enjoyed watching Jonathan Winters, which was seen by many as an" ad-lib comedyGenie).

Activities on the ship were abundant. Unique to the Epic, the Epic Plunge (a massive 7-deck water slide), 6 bowling lanes and the Svedka Ice Bar (NCL was the first ice bar advertises at sea), which are all content (including the bar) of ice and the venue is held in a "pleasant" 17-degree temperature to keep them from melting. Well, that's "really cool"! Patrons are clearly heavy jackets before entering the drink and vodkaChoice.

The State Rooms

Like every modern cruise ship, NCL offers a wide selection Epic of accommodation ranging from cheaper inside cabins (without windows), deluxe rooms with a personal butler. Of course you would a guest in one of the spacious suites have a different cabin experience as a stay in a much smaller inside cabin so again once I have my car checked by warning the reader that it is based on my forewordspecific experience (which may not hold for other types of accommodation on the Epic true).

My wife and I were in a standard cabin with balcony (one of the "Category B" cabins on the ship). Upon entering the cabin, we had two first impressions. First curved walls gave the room a very unique "look" (as opposed to typical cruise ship cabins that are almost rectangular with straight walls). The second thing we noticed that the cabinnot have a bathroom ... well, at least not in the traditional sense. You have the cabin through a door between a shower and a toilet stall (each with a strong "dull" housing). A curtain separated these areas from the main part of the cabin, which among other things, the bed, sofa, cabinets / cupboards and a sink. The advantage of the sink outside the toilet and shower area is that inmates can use the sink, while another with theShower or toilet (convenience that you do not often find in traditional cabins cruise ships). In addition, provided the unique design of the cabin much more space than is typically in a similar-sized conventional cars found. But despite this, I found the cabin very "tight" (especially in the cabins that have the bed closer to the front door, when the balcony door) and I have to admit a total that I would have preferred a moreconventionally designed cabin configuration or one of the larger deluxe balcony ("Category D") cabins on the Epic).

Conclusion

While on board, said one of the NCL executives me what I thought the ship and what type of client it would be best suited for. Without hesitation, I replied that the Epic would be really clear on most appreciated by many on the client, the cruise ships and now something would have been experiencing. In line with this, it isno coincidence that my wife Epic booked the 15-year anniversary cruise for Direct Line Cruises on NCL staff and taste "to it, we can hardly expect it until September, when we're on the sails now, that we become a little" Epic for 7 nights.

Princess Cruise Lines

Princess Cruise Lines are part of the largest cruise companies in the world, although it "is still probably best known for the TV series The Love Boat" from the 1970s.

Princess Cruise Lines began in 1966 as the "Princess Patricia Stanley MacDonald chartered to undertake coastal cruises from Los Angeles to the Mexican. The cruise ship had indeed designed for Arctic and arrived without the necessary characteristics of an equatorial cruise. The Princess Patricia was then interpreted by the "Princess Italia" a vessel for the warmer climates replaced, and was really modern in every respect. The "Princess landed Italia" is Alaskan and European cruises as well. A third ship, the Princess Carla, "was recorded quickly to the growing company.

Princess Cruise Lines was going from strength to strength and in 1974 the company was the company acquired P & O (Peninsular & Oriental Steam Navigation), the Sun assed by the "Princess "the fleet." Iceland Princess and Pacific Princess "were also built new fro P & O, it was on these two cruise ships that" The Love Boat "& O was set. P already had a large fleet of ships and would be transferred between the brand and the "Sea Princess" sailed for both brands from the year 1978. It was not until 1984 that the first ship, the "Royal Princess", was the first company specifically liner built for the Princess Cruise Lines.

P & O continuesBuy companies, cruise ships and other with the purchase of Alaska and Sitmar Line Tour, more ships were acquired and new cruise itineraries have been added to the company. Many ships and routes were added to the brand Princess Cruise Lines. Princess Cruise Lines end in 2000 as separate from P & O in front of Carnival Corporation merged with P & O and all of its separate company to take over twelve cruise brands.

Princess Cruise Lines is nowmarketed as Princess Cruises and is seventeen cruise lines, which are three small ships. All bets are designed to offer all of the experiences of a five-star hotels, but with what feels like a personal service. Depending on which boat you can expect to have casinos, theaters and swimming pools. The liner also on a wide range of sailing destinations, including World Cruises, Alaska, Hawaii, South America, Europe, in fact pretty much anywhere in the world. Sun, Fun and Frolics on an Eastern Caribbean Cruise

Following last week excursion to the western Caribbean, we need to investigate now the delights to be found to the east. This area is popular with cruise fans and is well served by Costa Cruises, such as Princess Cruises, Cunard, Carnival and.

Many of the most famous holiday destinations in the Caribbean are in the Eastern Region, including St. Kitts and Nevis, Antigua, Anguilla, St. Lucia, Barbados and Martinique. Together with the U.S. and British VirginIslands, small islands that attract a significant share of Caribbean tourist population, offering their own unique experiences for visitors.

For example, St. Lucia is a feast for the eyes when it comes to its white sandy beaches, rain forests and volcanic mountains - the perfect setting for rest, relaxation and active recreation such as golf, diving and hiking.

Shopaholics will probably spend much of their time in Castries, St. Lucia's capital, where aVariety of goods are offered in a lively environment.

Elsewhere, other known eastern Caribbean, Antigua goal, which is perhaps best known for the fact that it is an amazing 365 beaches - offers plenty of choice for all sun seekers.
